Jay was from a family of farmers and ranchers. While he worked in several fields in his younger years, traveling outside of the United States on occasions, he returned to the ranch life that he loved most. He enjoyed the open air surroundings. The previous generation of Hicks' have all passed and those in Jay's generation are quickly approaching their life expectancy as many of them have preceeded Jay in passing. Jay will be missed by all of his family.

Jay was always laughing and telling us about some adventure. Four of us cousins were able to share a day together a couple of years ago in Durant, OK. I had a good time catching up with Jay and Lillie. Our families were always close as we all grew up within a mile of each other. You can take us out of the country but you can never take the country out of us. With Jay's passing there will be one more empty seat when the Hicks' are together. We will miss him.

I so sorry to hear of Jay's passing. When I came to visit back in 93 Jay and Lilly made me feel at home. To this day I still remember all of Jay's stories and his laugh. Some of my favorite memories are from when I visited. He will be sadly missed.
